Braces & Aligners
Dental braces are wire-based appliances that orthodontists use to correct crowded and misaligned teeth or jaws. Braces are used to align or straighten the teeth and to bring your teeth to the corrected position. The goal of the braces is to produce a pleasant smile and even bite.
Many people who need dental braces get them during their early teenage years, but adults also can benefit from wearing braces. Modern materials and technologies make the experience of having dental braces much more comfortable than in the past.
Dental braces are suitable for people who have:
- Crooked or Overcrowded teeth
- Space between teeth
- Upper front teeth that overlap the lower teeth either vertically or horizontally
- Upper front teeth that bite behind the lower ones
- Other jaw misalignment problems that cause an uneven bite
Proper alignment of your teeth and jaws may improve not only the appearance of your teeth but also the health of your mouth and the way you bite, chew and speak.
Types of Braces Available
Metal Conventional Braces: Metal conventional Braces are the common type of traditional braces. Patients of all ages can choose metal braces to straighten their teeth more quickly and less painfully. The elastic used in the metal braces come in a variety of colors.
Metal Self Ligating Braces: In comparison to traditional braces. Metal Self Ligating Braces do not require elastic to tie wire. It comes with a shutter or lock system and is more comfortable and smaller in size.
Ceramic Conventional Braces: These braces blend naturally with your teeth as ceramic braces and are less visible on your teeth. The shape and size are the same as metal braces.
Lingual Braces: Lingual Braces are heavy metal braces which are placed behind the teeth. The treatment is highly aesthetic and less visible.
Clear Aligners:
Clear Aligners are medical grade plastic trays that do not require any braces or wire. The biggest benefit is that clear aligners are nearly invisible, meaning many people won't be able to tell you're wearing them at all.
Aligners allow for easier brushing and flossing since they're removed for cleaning. Plus, food won't get stuck like with metal brackets. Because aligners don't have brackets or wires that can loosen, they may require fewer repairs and fewer emergency visits to the orthodontist. Clear Aligners also hide existing gaps.
At SmileZone Dental Studio we offer all kinds of Braces & Aligners treatments including Invisalign.
